What a wild ride! I can’t believe I get to type this – We’re pregnant! The short of a long winded story is that we had completed IVF round 2 and we were taking a month to let my body rest and financially recoup a little bit. Then we would start round 3.
We completed IVF cycles 1 & 2 back to back and it took its toll. During this month break is when we became pregnant naturally. We couldn’t believe it and the doc couldn’t believe it. We feel incredibly blessed that our bean is on the way!
How We Found Out We’re Pregnant
April was our month of rest. We were mentally and financially preparing for a third and final round of IVF in May. During the month of April I was still tracking on my Flo app but I had stopped using the Ovulation test strips I was using. In my mind, we were doing IVF and that was how we were going to get pregnant.
May rolled around and I was supposed to call my doctor on the first day of my cycle so we could kick off bloodwork for that third and final IVF cycle. As I’ve gotten older my cycle regulated and I was to the day every month. Maybe a day off here and there and two at the most which was very rare.
It was now three days past when my cycle should have started. This has never happened. I didn’t feel different and thought it was stress anticipating the next IVF cycle. I had some pregnancy tests on hand so I took one. It was negative. I remember feeling a bit sad hoping it was some miracle.
It was almost two more days that had passed and I thought to myself what the heck is going on. I didn’t understand it. I woke up the next morning and still had not started my cycle. I have these tests, I guess I’ll take another one this morning.
The Moment of Truth
It was 5am on May 3rd. I took the test and there was what I thought was a faint line. I was twisting and turning the test at all different angles trying to see if the line was there. Then I said to myself, ok let me come back to this in a few minutes and see if the line is darker or still looks like this.
By this time, Tristan was awake and I went back and looked at the test. I couldn’t believe it! There was no mistaking now that there was a line there. I went to the living room, handed the test to Tristan, and he said no way, we’re pregnant?!!
I decided to order some more tests off Amazon because I was worried that it was showing positive because it sat too long. I got a box that had digital and regular tests. The box showed up that night and I tried a digital test. Very quick – a minute or less, it flashed Pregnant on the screen. We couldn’t believe it! We were so excited!
Now What?!
The most exciting thing has happened and now we don’t know what to do next, haha. Luckily, our IVF doctor called the next day and said, Hey don’t forget to call with day 1 of your cycle. I said, well funny you should call, we got a positive at home test yesterday. Wow, ok come in this week for an ultrasound and bloodwork and we will confirm the pregnancy.
Through ultrasound and bloodwork we confirmed that indeed we were pregnant. We were joking with our doctor and thanked him for everything over the last few months. He said, I didn’t have anything to do with this but you’re welcome!
Exciting Next Steps
Our minds are spinning with all of the things we want to do. We are enjoying this time but we also know how fast time goes. We started thinking on the space in our home. Tristan and I both work from home and now we also need to convert a room to a nursery. We would love to still have a guest room for friends and family. We have started considering and looking at larger homes.
We want to stay in Florida but potentially looking to make a move more South. I started searching for moving/storage companies in Tampa. In my research, I came across Mt. Zion Moving and Storage. I wanted to have a company ready to reach out to that offered both moving and storage so that was one less thing to worry about it.
They also offer packing services which I loved. Depending how far along I am, I may really want that extra help! No matter where we move, they also offer long distance moving as well. Tristan has had Wyoming and Tennessee on the brain recently, so we’ll see 😉
