Foundation and primer can be like PB&J or oil & vinegar. I have gone through a lot of trial and error figuring out which ones go best together for dry to combination skin types. Because of that, I’m putting my trial and error to good use and am sharing with you what I discovered along the way. However, I have found it really depends on the individuals skin type (oily, dry, combination) and their skincare routine as well. I am also a firm believer in pairing your foundation and primer with a good setting spray!
This first combination is my go to when I am taking photos or really want my makeup to be long lasting. This combo, I am using the Lancome La Base Pro Oil-Free Long wear Makeup Primer and MAC Studio Fix Fluid. In the Studio Fix, I am wearing the Shade N6.
A couple things I want to share about this combo. This one is the most expensive of the three. That being said, a little bit does go a long way and if this isn’t your daily makeup it should last you quite some time. In addition, a tip for the MAC foundation pump is that you can find them on Amazon and are much more affordable.
Onto my second pick. This foundation and primer combo I gravitate towards most often. On my skin, this combo is a great everyday wear. When I am going to be out and about for the day and need my face to stay fresh a good portion of the day. In this combo I am using Tula Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer and NARS Natural Radiant Long wear Foundation. In the NARS foundation I am wearing the shade 3.5 Salzburg.
Last but not least, the final foundation and primer combo. This is one I wear when I am running errands and just want a little something on my face. In this combo I am using Smashbox Photo Finish Super Light Primer and Tarte Shape Tape Matte Foundation. Tarte now calls this foundation Face Tape. I love that Smashbox made a light version of this primer. The original one is on the heavy side for me therefore this one is perfect! In the Shape tape foundation I am in the color light sand. Since this is a matte foundation, I have to use a non-matte primer otherwise mid-day isn’t pretty!
Between my trial and error I was eventually able to come across these foundation and primer combinations. However, my hope is if you have dry to combination skin some of these combos may work for you too!
Also, what are some of your favorite foundation and primer combinations? I always love to test out something new!
Till next time,
these primers look good!
