Wearing White After Labor Day – How to Break the Rules

It’s that time of year where the inevitable question is asked….Can I wear white after Labor Day? My answer will always be yes, of course you can! It’s all in how you style it! There is a certain way of wearing white after Labor Day.

One of my biggest pieces of advice would be to put away the white majorly distressed denim in the Fall & Winter months. Reasoning behind that is, heavily white distressed denim gives that summery feel. You would also want to consider not pairing white denim with a tank top and/or sandals. These pieces paired together, even in places where it is still warm, tend to give off that Spring/Summer vibe.

I like to grab my white skinny jeans and pair them with Fall inspired pieces and colors. Living in Florida, I do have to get a little creative since we are still in close to 90 degree weather in September so I can’t exactly wear knee high boots quite yet, although I would love to!

I put together a couple outfits to share some inspiration on how you can still wear white after Labor Day while battling the heat if you live somewhere warm.

You would find me wearing this casual outfit on a cooler day to run errands, a day of shopping, or on a day date where you want to look cute but not overly dressy. Comfy and cute casual is what I usually gravitate towards. With that being said, this is probably one of my go-to looks in the Fall! I took my white skinny jeans and paired them with a bit of color variations. Grabbed this beautiful sweater and in addition, layered it with my favorite hat from last year for an alternate color in the same palette. For shoes, I paired this look with some of my favorite booties that I grabbed from the NSale this year!

My second outfit to share is more casual. In my opinion, you just can’t go wrong with a plaid button up. My shirt is a year or two old but you can find these almost anywhere this time of year. However, linking an almost identical one for you here. I usually like to wear a tank underneath and not button it up all the way. For this look, I paired it with Marc Fisher booties which add a little something to the casual look but still keep the comfy feel.

Above all, I love classic pieces that can be closet staples year after year. For instance, white denim, plaid shirts, chunky sweaters and booties never go out of style. Mix and match those classics to get the most out of your wardrobe! For me the key is buying quality staple pieces that last.

I hope these looks give you some inspiration and ideas on wearing white after Labor Day! Would love to hear from you in the comments on how you wear white in the Fall & Winter OR if you follow “the rule” 🙂

Till next time,
