Ways to Beat Daylight Savings

Growing up, I remember when daylight savings time rolled around and the next day I would feel like everything was off. Due to that, all day I would say to my mom “It’s really supposed to be x o’clock but its actually x o’clock”. Looking back, I must have drove her mad! As I got older, I started to wonder, there must be ways to beat daylight savings time.

My mom would always respond “Just don’t think about it. Whatever time the clock says, that’s what time it is”. Ah, if it were only that easy! Over the last few years I have really tried to implement a few things into my routine to trick my mind. Living in Florida, I was hoping we wouldn’t have to experience the time change anymore. Looks like we are still participating. For now, anyways. 🙂

Ways to beat daylight savings

Something that I implemented that has been the most impactful is the night before as I am going to bed, I make sure to change all the clocks in the house. Our cell phones are automatic so this way all the times match and are correct when you wake up in the morning. This starts me out on the right foot.

Another trick that has really helped, is staying on the same night and morning schedule. I don’t adjust my bedtime or rise time on the time change. I stick to whatever the clock tells me. Granted, the first couple of days can be a tad tricky. I’ve noticed that it does lessen the amount of days where I feel off though.

Then, getting up in the morning, I grab my coffee and get myself ready for the day! Getting my body moving seems to help quite a bit as well. If you keep your body and your mind busy, things tend to feel normal. Midday you could experience a slight lull but totally normal haha, just keep moving.

I find it important to allow yourself to go about the day as you normally would. When you start to feel the mid-day drag, grab something that will give you some energy to keep moving! Sometimes in the afternoon I need a little pick me up but don’t always want a second cup of coffee. Recently, I heard about Verb caffeinated energy bars and gave them a try.

Without a doubt, I have really enjoyed these bars lately as an afternoon pick me up. With the bars being 90 calories, I love that they double as a little snack. Surprisingly, they are caffeinated by green tea and have as much caffeine as a shot of espresso! In addition, I enjoy the fact that they contain ingredients that I can pronounce and I know what they are. There are 4 flavors but my favorites are: Simply Cocoa and Maple Blueberry.

You can use this link for a Verb Trial for free! You can try all the flavors for free and just cover $0.95 for shipping.

All in all, I hope you can use these ways to beat daylight savings time this year! Would love to hear from you in the comments if you have any daylight savings tricks that work for you. I’d love to give them a try!
